Bone Structure Autumn Winter 2011 Collection

For my BA Hons Graduate Final Major Project i have decided to create a capsule collection based on the bone structure of the human body.
I have taken influence from x-ray and scan images and incorporated them into advanced pattern cutting skills and design development.
Please see below my final collection.

Mary Katrantzou who?

I have just seen Mary Katrantzou s/s 2011 collection and i don't say this very often but it is OUTSTANDING.
Ive never really notices her on my radar before and with this being her first stand alone show she has seriously made her mark and i think she is one to watch!

With this modern age of digital printing fashion has been able to go to new levels. These garments are works of art showing images of buildings and interiors cleverly put together on structures garments.
At a first glance you see these fabulous patterned fabrics but with a closer look you see the detail on these images.

Perfectly formed structured dresses and lampshade style skirts with fringing.

"With this collection, I wanted to put the room on the woman, rather than the woman in the room," Katrantzou said after the show.

Fringe isnt so cringe in Henry's S/S 2011

How fabulous is London Fashion Week so far i cannot get over how much 70's inspired designs i have seen but i can positivly say i love it! and i cannot wait to delve into the delights of these era.

I would just liek to start with a little shout out to Henry Holland as you all know i adore his styling and his s/s 2011 collection is just right up my street.

those little key details he uses are what keeps him on top with the high street trends. With pom pom earrings and metalic bow belts he is sure to be a hit with the highstreet.

The main 70's influence i could see in this collection was his pleated skirts. Such a classic style skirt but given a revamp by using metalic fabrics. A plum purple and a popping blue really give them a modern twist.

i love this dress such a elegant way of using fringing without it looking garish definate trend here!

long time no speak!

its been absolutely forever since i updated my blog and i am really really realllyyyyy sorry.
I finally managed to finish my foundation degree yey! and have had lots on with Hull Fashion Alliance!

we have just done a fashion and beauty fair in aid of Youth Enterprise and helped raise a load of money!
we also did a radio interview with WHCR! which was fab! bit nervous when i was speaking haha

We are now onto our next task!

weve had a few ideas such as setting up an online store for you all to purchase off! what do you think?

we have also been approached to organise a charity fashion show black tie event so all your girlies can look fabulous and feel great while seeing what local designers in Hull have to offer!

also looking into setting up a magazine.

and also trying to have a fun summer!

Zara's May lookbook

So as we all know Zaraa doesnt have an online shop with is a proper bummer! but we doo get to have a little sneaky peak at whats on offer and i must say i was very impressed with the may look book.

Yes it does have some copies of theMiu Miu collection but isnt this what we love about highstreet? getting the look for a fraction of the price?
this is debatable but i wont go into it tehehehe

i have one dissapointing fact though the peter pan collar on the cat print dress doesnt come with the dress!

its the best part about it and i dont even know if they are going to sell them!

but a little DIY tip for you! you can buy lace collars from haberdashery shops or Boyes if you live in yorkshire and just attach them on yourself!

ooo oooo ooooh!

and while im here get down to boots and buy 2 bottles of diet cokes because if you do you get a free Nail Inc nail polish!

Hello again!

Hey guys sorry its been a while ive got 6 outfits to make for my fashion show in three weeks! very very stressed and time is running out but to be honest if i had all the time in the world it wouldnt be right. Stressing gets your working tehehe.

Ive also been asking around for interships and work experience and the lovely people at British Style Bloggers have given me an internship! i am so very please and think they are the nicest people ever! so i will keep you inform on that when i start in july.

Ive also for a weeks work experience at my local newspaper to get a little insight into the way it runs and works and stuff. im a little nervous about it but it will all be good in the end!

sooooo this weeks little number is my plan for a wedding i am going to in a months time. I rummaged around theoutnet.com the perfect place for discount deisgner but you have to act quick cause POUF! and its GONE!

i got this lovely little anna sui dress! with 50% off i couldnt say no and i know im going to wear it again and again and again for all kinds of occassion!

im going to dress a little different cause im not into the whole formal thing! i want to team it with some heeled ankle boots and socks!
get a little bow in my hair and make it a bit more me

i really dont know what bag to use!

MILLITARY ACTION

After looking about for different looks i have come to liek to millitary look i very rarely wear trousers but i think i should give this look ago! i might look mature and my age for one!
i put this outfit together from Zara and i really like it! i mixed it up a little by added in to pink tone but still kept it milltary with the structure and shape.

I feel the key points to consider when going for the millitary look is:
keep it structured - Look for shoulder shape and nipped in at the waist to give it a female edge.
Tailored - the more tailored the better!
shoes - make them high high high is going for a serious power look empower the female form and work it baby!

Only a few more days left to vote!

Stylist Of The Year

This morning went so well my model is such a darling! shes perfect.
My concerns came true argh sizes was such a let down all they had was what was out they didnt have any other sizes in the stock room but after a good hunt i found some beautiful shorts in such a nice fabric!
my whole outfit looks great on her, i am very pleased! so here it is!

id love to hear what you all think of it and i well let you know what happens on saturday :D

so today i wore love heart tights for the first time. im the type of girl that has 100000 denier tights that are basically leggings with feet in. Ive never ventured into the relm of a lesser denier!

but this morning the sun was shining and i looked like this!

but after a day of pattern cutting come 4pm...

i look disasterous!

8AM!!!!
 YES I AM UP AND OUT AT 8AM BECAUSE TODAY IS THE DAY I PICK MY OUTFIT FOR STYLIST OF THE YEAR!
so my brief was dress to impress at new look and last night I thought I'd head down to the shop and see what outfit I can pick out. I started thinking abou what "dress to impress" actually means and at first I was sort of drifting towards going out clothes and evening wear but I stopped myself and decided to go in a less obvious direction. I want to do a date outit when is there a more appropriate time to impress?!. I found an awesome lilac crop top with sequin embelishment so so cute and my model has cropped shot hair so she will look fab! I began to look at shorts and thought it was going a bit naff so I looked and trousers and bingo I found the perfect pair of creamy grey hareem trousers so so smart! So I'm pleased! Hopefully the right sizes are going to be in and it will all go smoothly!
My catwalk show is this Saturday and the voting goes online in Saturday night and it's so easy to vote you just enter your email address! OMG its Matalan!

Ok so in Hull there is some stick with Matalan similar to the stick Primark seems to get.

But i thought id check it out see if there was some hidden gems!

and i found a few things i liked!

I didnt end up buying any of these i dont know why i just wasnt 100% convinced maybe i am subconsciencously thinking of the stick of Matalan but it did make me feel nice knowing i fitted in a size 8!

which one do you think looks best which one should i buy?

We heard the sad news a few weeks ago about Malcolm Mclaren passing away.The man behind the Sex Pistols as well as the man who ran for Mayor in 2000. He really was a man of many talents. He and Vivienne Westwood are true legends really working together to create what we know today as the Punk scene.

Malcolm Mclaren's funeral will be held 22nd April and in celebration of his life Humanade asking people to observe a MINUTE OF MAYHEM at midday on 22nd April.

the funeral cortege will travel between 1.15pm and 2.15pm through Camden High Street, Chalk Farm Road, Ferdinand Street, Malden Road, Princes of Wales Road, Kentish Town Road and Southampton Road en route to his final resting place.

OK so ive done way to many blogs about hats recently but i really am obbsessed! in Beverley theyre is the most amazing antique shop with a little room hidden away with some CLASSIC fashion items.
I saw this hat and i couldnt put it down! i adore it so much!i think im going to go on a hunt for a lovely little summer dress to wear it with.

Along with my beloved hats ive aquired a taste for tights!

Ok Ok im a devoted Henry Holland fan but anyone would love his tights!!

These tattoo prints tights are just fantastic! and at £12 they are such an impulse purchase you know when you just have to own something? these are them!

and these little ankle socks are just a bargain at £4 and would look really cute teamed with some pumps!

If you dont want to go all out and adventourous with the prints just try colour i think bold tights make a real difference to an outfit and really works with making your outfit unique!

I was cruising in my car the other day while the sun was shining...yes shining im not joking i do believe i have witnessed blue sky this year, and i had Galaxy radio on.

Yes its true Espadrilles are back! go for a rummage in your parents wardrobe and you may find a pair of these bad boys!

im ordering my pair right away they look seriously comfortable and a great kitsch alternative to the bog standard pump.

Its funny how if id of worn these about 3 years ago id of bee nthe biggest loser going!

there are loads and loads of them on Office and nopt expensive at all!

The ones with anchors on are so cute and would fit the Nautical theme that seems to run through every single spring summer season there is!

and for men they get two pairs for £20 cannot go wrong there!

I think boots this autumn/winter have been such a success people just cant seem to part with them.
